Investment Principals:
Sam Belzberg is a highly
successful player in the North American financial community.
He was founder of First City Financial Corporation, which he
built into a $7bn financial institution and is Chairman of
Gibralt and Second City Capital Partners. He serves on the boards of a number of
public companies. With a B.Com (University of Alberta), he
holds an honorary doctorate from Simon Fraser University. He
was awarded the Order of Canada in 1989, promoted to Officer
of Order of Canada in 2002, and received the Governor
General of Canada Award in 1992.
Johnny Ciampi is Executive Vice President and CFO of
Second City Capital Partners and for the past six years, has managed the
finance function at Gibralt Capital including responsibility
for taxation, acquisitions, dispositions and legal.
Previously he articled with Deloitte & Touche and was
controller and treasurer of a group of public companies
traded on
the TSX. Mr. Ciampi is a graduate of the University of
British Columbia with a degree in Commerce and holds a
Chartered Accountant Designation.
Christopher Wallace was formerly a Partner of
Stirling Mercantile Corporation, a corporate finance firm he
founded. Prior to Stirling he was COO of Canadian Maple
Leaf Financial Corporation, an independent merchant bank
and has 10 years of commercial banking experience. He has
served on the boards and provided interim CFO services to
several public and private companies. Also, Mr. Wallace purchased Tempa
Glass Industries in a leveraged buyout and acted as CEO of this
innovative and successful architectural glass manufacturing
business for 5 years. Mr. Wallace is a graduate of Queens
University with an Honours degree in Economics.
David Huberman Prior to
establishing his own law and consultancy practice in 1993,
Mr. Huberman was, for many years, a senior partner in the
Vancouver law firm of Freeman and Company. From 1990 to 1993
he also served as Chairman of the Executive Committee of
Goodman, Freeman, Phillips and Vineberg, an international
law firm. Mr. Huberman has practiced business law since
1960, specializing in corporate, commercial, banking,
securities, and regulatory law, and has extensive domestic
and international experience in the negotiation, structuring
and financing (both public and private) of a variety of
business enterprises.
Travis Dowle, Vice President, Portfolio Investments. Mr. Dowle is responsible for finding new investment opportunities and managing the existing portfolio of investments. Prior to joining
Second City, he was with HSBC Investments for more than 10 years; most recently as a discretionary portfolio manager focused on the firm’s global equity strategy and responsible for over $500 million in client assets. Mr. Dowle is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Advisory Board:
Strauss Zelnick is a leading
expert in the media industry. In his newest venture,
ZelnickMedia, he is capitalizing on his extensive experience
to create a dynamic and diverse media company. ZelnickMedia
holds interest in an array of media enterprises, providing
general management and financial advisory services to its
portfolio companies both in the U.S. and Asia. Prior to
forming ZelnickMedia, Mr. Zelnick was President and Chief
Operating Officer of Twentieth Century Fox, from 1989
through 1993. He went on to become President and Chief
Executive Officer of BMG Entertainment, a $4.7 bn music and
entertainment company with more than 200 record labels and
operations in 54 countries.
Martin Solomon
Since 1990, Mr. Solomon has been a private investor. From
1988-1990, he was a Managing Director and general partner of
Value Equity Associates, I, L.P., an investment partnership.
Mr. Solomon was an investment analyst and portfolio manager
with Steinhardt Partners, an investment partnership from
1985-1987. From 1990 to 2000, Mr. Solomon was a director of XTRA Corporation, a lessor of truck trailers, marine
containers, and intermodal equipment. From 1997-2002, he
was Chairman and President of American Country Holdings
Inc., an insurance holding company specializing in property
and casualty insurance.
Murray Dunlop is
the Founder and President of Canterbury Coffee, based in
Richmond, B.C. The company, which he founded in 1977, is
Western Canada’s largest specialty coffee roaster. Mr.
Dunlop graduated from Simon Fraser University in 1973 with a
Bachelor of Arts degree, and went on to earn his Master of
Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Western
Ontario in 1975.
Steve
Shraiberg is President of
Urban Property Management, Inc., which is engaged in
developing and managing real estate under both conventional
and FHA-insured programs. Mr. Shraiberg is also the major
shareholder of Esprit Homes, Ltd., a major Colorado
homebuilder, since 1989. Mr. Shraiberg has been involved in
the development of approximately 10,000 apartment units
since 1971. He is currently on the Board of Guaranty Bank
and Trust, and Guaranty Corporation. Mr. Shraiberg received
his B.S. degree from the University of Colorado and
continued in graduate studies.
